Emma Wilburn Named as Inaugural Head Dance Coach

Paxton, Mass. – Anna Maria College Athletics is pleased to announce the hiring of Emma Wilburn as the inaugural Head Dance Coach, marking an exciting step forward with the launch of the College's dance program.

"I am honored to join the coaching staff at Anna Maria College and eager to welcome our inaugural team of AMCAT dancers this fall." Said Emma Wilburn. "The Anna Maria community has been incredibly welcoming and positive, and I am confident that the dance team will amplify that spirit, elevating the energy of our game days and representing AMC at competitions nationwide."

Wilburn brings a strong background in dance instruction, team development, and student leadership to Anna Maria College. She currently serves as a Dance Instructor with the National Dance Alliance (NDA), where she provides technical instruction, team-building guidance, and leadership training to dancers ranging from middle school through the collegiate level while representing the Varsity Spirit brand at events nationwide.

In addition to her work with NDA, Wilburn has collegiate and scholastic coaching experience, having served as an Assistant Coach for the Newton North High School Dance Team. In that role, she helped create a safe, inclusive, and supportive training environment for a roster of more than 20 student-athletes, providing instruction and feedback for halftime performances as well as state and regional competition routines.

Wilburn also brings extensive leadership experience from her role as a Resident Director at the College of the Holy Cross, where she oversees residence life operations, supervises and mentors student staff, and responds to campus-wide needs. Her experience working closely with college students positions her well to build a positive, student-centered culture within the new dance program.

As a former member of the Assumption University Dance Team, Wilburn competed at the national level, helping lead the Greyhounds to a second-place finish in Division II Team Performance and a third-place finish in Division II Pom at the 2022 NDA Nationals. During her time at Assumption, she also served as Fundraising Captain for the 2022–23 season. Her training spans multiple styles, including pom, team performance, hip hop, jazz, lyrical, ballet, pointe, and musical theater.

"We are thrilled to welcome Emma Wilburn as the inaugural Head Dance Coach at Anna Maria College," said Executive Director of Athletics David McCauley. "Emma brings an impressive combination of competitive dance experience, instructional expertise, and a genuine commitment to student development. Her background working with dancers at every level, along with her leadership experience in higher education, makes her the ideal person to build our dance program from the ground up. She also shares our strong commitment to enhancing the women's sports experience at Anna Maria College, and we are confident that she will establish a culture of excellence, inclusion, and enthusiasm as this program begins."

As the inaugural head coach, Wilburn will be responsible for building the Anna Maria College dance program from the ground up, including recruiting, choreography, and establishing the foundation for long-term competitive and community success.
