Baseball Picks Up Second Straight MASCAC Win Over Framingham
PAXTON, Mass. - Anna Maria College picked up its second straight Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference victory, defeating the Framingham State University Rams 10-6 in a baseball game on Friday night at Marlborough High School.
With the win, the AMCATS improve to an overall record of 11-6 and 2-0 in conference play.
The AMCATS opened the scoring in the third when Mason Kolczewski grounded out to short, bringing home Andrew Denison from third. Anna Maria added three more in the fourth, with Evan Dumeny reaching on a fielder's choice and eventually scoring off an RBI single by Avery Acuna. Later in the inning, Andrew Denison reached on a throwing error, allowing Acuna to score and push the lead to 4-0.
Anna Maria extended the lead in the fifth, with Jonathan Guardascione singling to drive in Brady Aylward, followed by an RBI single from Acuna that plated two more. Denison added an RBI single later in the inning as the AMCATS went ahead 8-1.
The AMCATS continued to pile on, with Jaiden Driscoll scoring on a passed ball in the seventh, and Aidan Landers bringing home Brayden Wright with a sacrifice fly in the eighth to make it 10-3. The Rams scored in the sixth, seventh, eighth, and ninth innings, but Anna Maria held on for the win.
John Daley earned the win in the start, pitching four innings, recording a strikeout while allowing zero earned runs.
The AMCATS return to action Sunday, March 29, with a doubleheader against Framingham State at 1:00 PM EDT.
