Baseball Bested by Chatham University in Florida
AUBURNDALE, Fla. - Anna Maria College was defeated 10-1 by Chatham University on the fourth day of its Spring Break trip. With the loss, the AMCATS move to 2-2 overall to open the season in Florida.
The Cougars jumped out to an early 2-0 lead after the first inning and added three more runs in the top of the fifth to extend their advantage.
Trailing 6-0 in the bottom of the eighth, the AMCATS broke through when Brayden Wright drew a bases-loaded walk to bring home Brady Aylward, who singled to lead off the inning.
Aylward and Mason Kolczewski each finished 2-for-4 at the plate with a pair of singles.
John Daley got the start on the mound, striking out four over 4.1 innings of work. Six Anna Maria pitchers combined for 10 strikeouts in the contest.
Anna Maria returns to action against John Carroll University on Wednesday, March 4, continuing its Florida road trip.
