Men’s Ice Hockey Punches Ticket to MASCAC Finals with Overtime Win Over MCLA

AUBURN, Mass. - Anna Maria College earned a thrilling 3-2 overtime victory over the MCLA Trailblazers in the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Men's Ice Hockey Playoff Semifinals on Saturday night at Horgan Skating Arena.

With the win, the AMCATS advance to the MASCAC Championship game against Westfield State University on Saturday, March 7, at Horgan Skating Arena. Puck drop is set for 6:40 p.m.

After MCLA grabbed a 1-0 lead in the opening period and both teams skated through a scoreless second, Anna Maria responded quickly in the third period, with Pearce Baker tying the game just 52 seconds into the frame off an assist from Brandon Della Paolera.

The Trailblazers answered on a 5-on-3 power play to reclaim a 2-1 advantage, but the AMCATS refused to back down. With just over seven minutes remaining in regulation, Nolan Ring buried the equalizer, assisted by Braeden McKinnon and Hayden Rynard, to force overtime.

In the extra period, Ring struck again, scoring the game-winner just 1:30 into overtime to seal the victory and send Anna Maria to the conference finals.

Matthew Hennessey played the entire game in goal for the AMCATS, making 36 saves to pick up the win.
