Della Paolera and Hennessey Headline MASCAC Weekly Awards
PAXTON, MA - Brandon Della Paolera and Matthew Hennessey earned Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Weekly Awards for Men's Ice Hockey, announced by the league office on Tuesday afternoon.
Della Paolera was named MASCAC Player of the Week for his contributions in the AMCATS big win over the No. 15-ranked Salve Regina. The senior forward scored the game-winner to propel his squad to a 1-0 victory over the Seahawks and added an assist the next day in a loss against Williams. Della Paolera ranks second on the team with 12 points on the season, scoring four goals, while setting up his teammates with eight assists.
Hennessey was named MASCAC Goalie of the Week for the second time this season, holding Salve Regina scoreless for the first time this season, making 46 saves to secure the shutout. He added 40 saves the following day in a setback against Williams, finishing the two days with 86 saves and a .956 save percentage. The junior goalie has a total of 410 saves through 13 games with a .945 save percentage and a 1.8 goals against average with a 9-3-1 individual record.
The men's ice hockey team returns to action on Thursday, January 22nd, for a home game against MASCAC rival Worcester State beginning at 5:40 p.m.
