Men’s Lacrosse Falls to Nichols

DUDLEY, Mass. - The Anna Maria College men's lacrosse team was defeated by Nichols College, 24-7, on Saturday afternoon in non-conference action.

With the loss, the AMCATS fall to an overall record of 0-4 to open the season.

Nichols opened the contest with a strong first quarter, scoring six unanswered goals to take an early 6-0 advantage after the opening 15 minutes. The Bison continued to control the pace into the second quarter, extending their lead with three more goals before Anna Maria broke through midway through the frame.

Miles Cormier put the AMCATS on the board at the 10:29 mark of the second quarter off an assist from Nicholas Hussa. Nichols responded with a late scoring surge to carry a 16-3 lead into halftime despite late goals from Cormier and Eric Farrell for Anna Maria.

The Bison added five goals in the third quarter, while Cormier recorded a power-play tally assisted by Farrell to complete his hat trick and keep the AMCATS within striking distance heading into the final period.

Anna Maria showed offensive momentum in the fourth quarter, beginning with Cormier's fourth goal of the game, again assisted by Hussa. Aidan Maisen followed with an unassisted tally, and Cormier added his fifth goal late in the contest to cap the AMCATS scoring.

Cormier led Anna Maria with five goals, while Hussa and Farrell each recorded assists in the effort. Despite the late push, Nichols maintained control throughout the contest to secure the 24-7 victory.

Anna Maria returns to action on Wednesday, March 4th, with a road game at Cairn beginning at 3 p.m.
