WOMEN'S LACROSSE PICKS UP WIN AGAINST PANTHERS

Paxton, MA - The Anna Maria College women's lacrosse team earned its first victory of the 2026 season on Saturday afternoon, defeating Purchase College by a final score of 11–5.

The AMCATS came out strong offensively, scoring four goals in the opening quarter to take early control of the contest. Kelsey Wilson opened the scoring for the AMCATS at the 14:02 mark off an assist from Mackenzie Fitch, before Kortney Clark added an unassisted goal to extend the lead. Wilson struck again later in the quarter, once again assisted by Fitch, giving the AMCATS a 3–0 advantage. Purchase responded with two goals late in the period, but Fitch capped the first-quarter scoring with a free-position goal to give the AMCATS a 4–2 lead after one.

Clark continued the momentum in the second quarter, converting a free-position attempt before adding another goal midway through the frame. Megan Tegethoff added a late goal off a Wilson assist as Anna Maria pushed its lead to 7–2 at halftime.

The AMCATS maintained control in the third quarter as Olivia Vale da Serra found the back of the net twice. Her first came off an assist from Clark, and she followed it with another tally later in the quarter to stretch the lead to 9–2.

Purchase attempted to rally in the fourth quarter, scoring twice, but Anna Maria responded with goals from Wilson and Tegethoff to seal the victory. The Panthers added one late goal, but the AMCATS closed out the 11–5 win.

Wilson and Clark led the Anna Maria attack with three goals and one assist each, while Vale da Serra contributed two goals and two assists. Tegethoff finished with two goals, and Fitch added one goal and two assists in the victory.

Defensively, goalkeeper Grace Holden turned in a strong performance in net, making 13 saves while playing the full 60 minutes.

Anna Maria women's lacrosse is back in action on Monday March 16^th as they host the  Golden Bears of Western New England for a non-conference matchup. Opening Draw is set for 5:00pm.
