WOMEN'S LACROSSE CLOSES OUT SEASON WITH LOSS TO PRIDE
WESTON, MA – On Tuesday April 22nd the Anna Maria College women's lacrosse team traveled to Weston, MA to take on the Pride of Regis College for a Great Northeast Athletic Conference matchup. The AMCATS would lose the game 11 to 4.
The Pride would score first on the AMCATS, scoring about 10 minutes into the first quarter. It would be both teams to play strong defense and exchange opportunities on offense in the first, but it would be the Pride to get the lone goal. As the first quarter would come to an end and the AMCATS would eb down to the Pride 1 to 0 heading into the second quarter.
The AMCATS would come out strong in the second getting the first goal of the game off the stick of Olivia Stump. That would tie the game against the Pride, 1 to 1 with plenty of time left to play in the game. It would be the Pride though that would go on to score two consecutive goals before the second quarter would end to regain their lead on the AMCATS. The AMCATS would head to the third down to the Pride 3 to 1.
As the second half would start the AMCATS would look to come out strong against the Pride to get the two goals back. It would be though the Pride to strike first to add to their lead 4 to 1. It would not be long before Olivia Stump would score her second goal of the game for the AMCATS to put them back within two on the Pride. The Pride would strike right back and silence the AMCATS for the rest of the third quarter scoring five consecutive goals to lead the AMCATS 9 to 2.
The AMCATS would come out quick in the fourth quarter scoring their 3rd goal of the game off the stick of Riley Michaud to trail to the Pride by 6 goals. It would be less two minutes later that the Pride would strike right back on the AMCATS scoring two consecutive goals to lead 11 to 3. The AMCATS would continue to pressure the Pride and were not giving up as they would manage to score one more goal off the stick of Riley Michaud for her second goal of the game on the Pride for their 4th and final goal of the game. The AMCATS would fall to the Pride 11 to 4.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Grace Holden would record 23 saves against the Pride, for her second highest number of saves in a game.
- Riley Michaud and Olivia Stump would both record 2 goals in the game against the Pride
- Kayla Berthiaume would lead the AMCATS in caused turnovers with 3 against the Pride.
- Reagan Hachey and Kayla Berthiaume would both lead the AMCATS in ground balls against the Pride with 4.
- This marks the last regular season game for the AMCATS women's lacrosse team.
