Powers Named Face-Off Specialist of the Year as GNAC Announces All-Conference Awards
PAXTON, MA - On Tuesday, May 6th the Great Northeast Athletic Conference announced their men's lacrosse All-Conference Team. Voting was conducted by the league's 13 men's lacrosse head coaches following the regular season and did not take postseason play into account. Senior midfielder Nathan Powers was named Face-Off Specialist of the Year while also being named to the All-Conference First Team.
Powers has been a dominating presence in the face-off circle for the AMCATS all season long, going 254-327 for a .777 Win Percentage. Powers performance this season not only put him in the top of the conference leaderboards but also first in NCAA Division III as a whole. Powers would also scoop up a career high of 198 ground balls this season which ranked him first in the NCAA and the GNAC for Ground Balls Per Game, averaging 13.20 over 15 games played. On top of all this, Powers also contributed a career high of 24 points with 13 goals and 11 assists.
During his four year career at Anna Maria Nathan Powers accumulated 623 career ground balls, 971 career face-off wins and 36 career points. He is the Program leader in Ground Balls and Face-off Wins, and currently ranks second all time in Face off Win Percentage with a .631 career.
