MEN'S LACROSSE FALLS SHORT AGAINST FALCONS

PAXTON, MA- On Tuesday April 15th the Anna Maria College men's lacrosse team hosted the Falcons of Albertus Magnus for a Great Northeast Athletic Conference matchup. The AMCATS lost the game 9 to 7 .

The Falcons would start the scoring off early getting the first goal of the game with about five minutes into the game, to lead the AMCATS 1 to 0. It would not be long before the AMCATS would strike to tie the Falcons in the first 1 to 1 off a shot from Eric Farrell assisted by Nathan Powers.  The Falcons would capitalize fast, getting two quick consecutive goals against the AMCATS to lead 3 to 1. That would end the scoring in the first quarter with the Falcons heading to the second quarter ahead of the AMCATS by two goals. 

The Falcons would come out strong in the second quarter scoring the first goal of the quarter, to increase their lead on the AMCATS 4 to 1. The AMCATS were not going away as they would respond to the Falcons goal, scoring their second goal of the game off the stick of Eric Farrell for his second goal of the game, assisted by Jeff Robinson. The AMCATS would trail to the Falcons 4 to 2, with about two minutes left in the second. Both teams would go back and forth for the remainder of the second quarter, but would both remain off the scoreboard, with the AMCATS heading to halftime down to the Falcons 4 to 2. 

The AMCATS would look to come out strong in the third quarter against the Falcons, but it would be the Falcons to strike two quick goals in the third with about ten minutes left to play. The AMCATS would continue to find offense against the Falcons as Eric Farrell would strike for the AMCATS scoring his third goal of the game. The AMCATS would be trailing the Falcons 6 to 3 with about six minutes left in the third. The Falcons would quickly answer to Farrell third goal scoring their seventh goal of the game a minute after the AMCATS third goal. It would be both teams to get one more goal in the third quarter before it would end, as Farrell would get his fourth of the game. The AMCATS would head into the final quarter of the game trailing 8 to 4.

The fourth quarter would start with the Falcons finding the net first, to score their 9th goal of the game on the AMCATS and increasing their lead by 5 with about ten minutes left to play in the fourth. The AMCATS would continue to push the offense against the Falcons, scoring three straight goals all coming off the stick of Jake Lupo. The AMCATS would pull within 2 goals of the Falcons with the score of 9 to 7 but time would run out in the fourth to end the game before the AMCATS could tie the game to the Falcons. The AMCATS would go on to fall to the Falcons 9 to 7. 

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Eric Farrell would lead the offense for the AMCATS against the Falcons with 4 goals and 2 assists. Farrell currently leads the AMCATS this season in points with 29 goals, 8 assists with 37 points. 
  • Nathan Powers would have two assists and have 13 groundballs to lead the AMCATS in groundballs against the Falcons. 
  • Jake Lupo would earn his first career hattrick against the Falcons. 
  • Caden Rakes would have 10 saves for the AMCATS in the matchup against the Falcons.

The AMCATS will be back in action on Thursday April 17th where they will host the Bulldogs of Dean College for a Great Northeast Athletic Conference match up. Opening faceoff is set for 5:00pm.
