BULLDOGS TOO MUCH FOR MEN'S LACROSSE

PAXTON, MA – On Thursday April 17th the Anna Maria College men's lacrosse team hosted the Bulldogs of Dean College for a Great Northeast Athletic Conference matchup. The AMCATS lost the game 17-7.

The AMCATS struggled in the first quarter after allowing five unanswered goals to the Bulldogs. The Bulldogs would come out strong in the second quarter dominating the AMCATS scoring three more goals, on the AMCATS to lead with about 12 minutes left in the second 8 to 0. It wasn't until about 9 minutes left in the second quarter that Eric Farrell would end the AMCATS silence with their first goal of the game off a pass from Jeff Robinson, to get the AMCATS on the board. The Bulldogs would quickly strike back against the AMCATS scoring five consecutive goals to lead the AMCATS 13 to 1 with about 12 minutes to play in the third quarter. The AMCATS were continuing to push against the Bulldogs and find offensive momentum and it would be the AMCATS to score two consecutive goals less than a minute apart in the third quarter. The AMCATS second goal would come off a pass from Jeremy Dewar to Jake Lupo. And the AMCATS third goal of the game would come off the stick of Nathan Powers. The Bulldogs would manage to score one more goal in the third quarter to lead the AMCATS 14 to 3. But the AMCATS were not going away as Nathan Powers would get his second goal of the game with about 21 seconds left to play in the third quarter to close out the scoring for the third. The AMCATS would head to the fourth quarter trailing to the Bulldogs 14 to 4. The AMCATS would strike first in the fourth quarter off the stick of Jeff Robinson with about 14 minutes left to play for the AMCATS 5th goal of the game. It would not be long after that the Bulldogs would strike back and score their 15th goal of the game. The AMCATS were continuing to push against the Bulldogs and create offensive opportunities that the AMCATS would score two consecutive goals in the fourth a little over a minute apart. The 6th goal of the game was off the stick of Jeremy Dewar. The final goal of the game for the AMCATS would be scored off the stick of Jeff Robinson for his second goal of the game. Despite the AMCATS two quick goals on the Bulldogs the Bulldogs would strike one more time before the fourth quarter would end to score their 17th goal of the game. The AMCATS would fall to the Bulldogs 17 to 4. 

Beyond The Box Score: 

  • Jeff Robinson would lead the AMCATS on offense against the Bulldogs with 2 goals and an assist. 
  • Nathan Powers would be 24-27 on faceoffs only losing three (one to a faceoff violation). 
  • Nathan Powers would lead the AMCATS on ground balls with 18 against the Bulldogs. 
  • Elie Charles would lead the AMCATS in caused turnovers against the Bulldogs with 3. 

COMING UP:

The AMCATS will be back in action on Saturday April 19th, 2025 where they will travel to Nashua, NH to take on the Raiders of Rivier University for a Great Northeast Athletic Conference game. Opening face-off is set for 12:00pm.
