MEN'S LACROSSE CAN'T KEEP UP WITH PRIDE
PAXTON, MA- On Wednesday April 9th the Anna Maria College men's lacrosse team hosted the Pride of Regis College for a Great Northeast Athletic Conference matchup. The AMCATS lost the game 15-8.
The AMCATS would start out strong, getting the first goal on the board, to lead the Pride 1 to 0. It would not be long before the Pride would tie the AMCATS in the first 1 to 1. The AMCATS would continue to fight to get another goal off the Pride for their 2nd goal of the game, to regain the lead on the Pride 2 to 1. The Pride would control the last part of the 1st quarter as they would go on to score three consecutive goals on the AMCATS to take the lead 4 to 2. The AMCATS would manage to get one more goal before the end of the first, but the Pride would be quick to respond to the late AMCAT goal in the first to lead the AMCATS 5 to 3 at the end of the first quarter.
The Pride would come out in the second quarter and would take control as they would score 4 consecutive goals and one late goal in the second quarter. The AMCATS would manage to score three goals in the second quarter, to keep fighting against the Pride, but the Pride would lead 10 to 6 leading into halftime.
The AMCATS were not going away and were continuing to push against the Pride as both teams would go back and forth each trading opportunities in the second quarter. Each team would get a pair of goals, in the third quarter. The AMCATS would continue to fight against the Pride and were not giving up as they would be trailing to the Pride 12 to 8.
The fourth quarter would not go in the AMCATS favor as the Pride would dominate the fourth quarter scoring three consecutive goals and keeping the AMCATS off the board completely in the fourth quarter. The AMCATS would fall to the Pride 15 to 8.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Eric Farrell would lead the offense for the AMCATS against the Pride, with 4 goals and one assist.
- Nathan Powers and Jeremy Dewar would both have a pair of goals for the AMCATS in the matchup against the Pride
- Nathan Powers would go 23 for 27 on the faceoffs and would lead the AMCATS in ground balls with 20.
- Caden Rakes would have 12 saves for the AMCATS in the matchup against the Pride.
WHAT'S NEXT:
The AMCATS will be back in action on Saturday April 12th where they will travel to Maine to take on the Monks of Saint Joseph's of Maine for a Great Northeast Athletic Conference match up. Opening faceoff is set for 6:00pm.
