MEN'S LACROSSE CLOSES OUT SEASON WITH LOSS TO VIKINGS
Salem, MA– On Thursday April 24, 2025, the Anna Maria College men's lacrosse team would travel to Salem, MA to take on the Vikings of Salem State for a non-conference matchup. Despite a strong start and offensive opportunities and chances, the AMCATS ultimately dropped the non-conference contest 14-7.
Anna Maria opened the scoring midway through the first quarter, answering back after Salem State jumped ahead with two quick goals. Eric Farrell led the charge with back-to-back unassisted goals, followed by the AMCATS third goal of the game from Nathan Powers, giving the AMCATS a brief 3-2 lead over the Vikings. However, Salem State closed the quarter on a strong run, scoring three goals to reclaim the lead 5-3.
Farrell continued to lead the offense, scoring his third goal of the night early in the second quarter to bring the AMCATS within one goal against the Vikings. Despite the one goal difference between the AMCATS and the Vikings it would be Salem State to pull away again, scoring three consecutive goals on the AMCATS, which would ultimately have the AMCATS heading into halftime trailing the Vikings 8 to 4.
The third quarter would be similar to the first and second as Anna Maria would get on the board off the stick of Jake Lupo, to put the AMCATS within three on the Vikings, but it would be Salem State to build their lead against the AMCATS scoring three more goals making it an 11-5 game in favor of the Vikings heading into the final frame.
Despite late goals from Farrell for his fourth goal of the game and Jeremy Dewar, the AMCATS couldn't close the gap on the Vikings, as Salem State would seal the game with three more goals in the fourth quarter. The AMCATS would fall to the Vikings 14 to 7.
