MEN’S BASKETBALL HONORS SENIOR DAY WITH HARD-FOUGHT EFFORT AGAINST COLBY-SAWYER

PAXTON, MA– On Febuary 8, 2025, the Anna Maria College men's basketball game would host the Chargers of Colby Sawyer for Senior Day. The AMCATS would fall to the Chargers 80-67. 
 
The Anna Maria AMCATS men's basketball team took to the court on Senior Day, February 8, 2025, in a spirited matchup against Colby-Sawyer. The special occasion brought a lively and supportive home crowd, celebrating the contributions of the team's senior players. Despite their valiant effort and a strong second-half push, the AMCATS ultimately fell 80-67.
 
The first half saw Colby-Sawyer come out firing, quickly establishing a lead behind their sharp shooting and relentless rebounding. The AMCATS found it difficult to match their opponent's intensity early on, struggling to convert scoring opportunities. By halftime, Anna Maria trailed 43-27. Seniors Ray Carter and Gabriel Armstead worked tirelessly to keep the AMCATS in the game, showcasing their leadership and determination on both ends of the court.
 
As the second half began, the AMCATS responded with renewed energy, fueled by the electric support of the Senior Day crowd. Gabriel Armstead ignited the offense with aggressive drives to the basket and clutch rebounds, while Ray Carter put on an impressive scoring display, including key mid-range jumpers and strong finishes at the rim. Off the bench, senior Nolan Serafin provided a crucial spark, hitting timely three-pointers and grabbing rebounds to bolster the team's momentum.
 
Defensively, Anna Maria tightened up, forcing turnovers and disrupting Colby-Sawyer's rhythm. The crowd erupted with every defensive stop and basket, creating an atmosphere that pushed the AMCATS to keep fighting until the final buzzer. Although Anna Maria outscored Colby-Sawyer 40-37 in the second half, the first-half deficit proved too much to overcome. Late-game three-point shots and free throws from Colby-Sawyer ultimately secured their victory.
 
While the result wasn't what the team had hoped for, the effort and heart displayed by the AMCATS were undeniable. Senior Day served as a reminder of the commitment and leadership shown by players like Ray Carter, Gabriel Armstead, and Nolan Serafin, whose contributions have left a lasting impact on the program.

-Ray Carter: Led the team with 19 points on 8-18 shooting, adding 5 rebounds, 3 assists, and a block. Carter's leadership was evident in his ability to score in critical moments.
-Gabriel Armstead: Dominated the paint with 15 points, 8 rebounds, and 3 assists. Armstead's effort on both ends showcased his importance to the team.
- Nolan Serafin: The senior delivered a strong performance with 9 points, including 2-2 from three-point range, and 6 rebounds in 21  minutes.
