Men's Basketball's Season Comes To A Close After Loss To Bulldogs

FRANKLIN, MA - On Monday, February 25th the Anna Maria College men's basketball team traveled to Franklin, MA to take on the Dean College Bulldogs for a Great Northeast Athletic Conference Play-In Game. The AMCATS lost the game 89-87.

Off to a slow start, the AMCATS found themselves trailing by 16 points after the first seven minutes of play. It would be a three pointer by Nolan Serafin at the seven minute mark of the first half that gave the AMCATS a little life as they battled their way back into the game putting themselves just ten points away from the bulldogs at the end of the Half with a score of 47-37.

Still trailing, the AMCATS got to work early in an effort to catch the Bulldogs. Stuck behind the Bulldogs for almost thirteen minutes, the AMCATS tied the game up for the first time of the evening with a three pointer from Ray Carter Jr. to make it 65-65. The AMCATS continued to battle hard with the Bulldogs for the remainder of the second half. Tied up at 87 points a piece with just 11 seconds left on the clock, the Bulldogs put up a layup to put the game just out of reach of the AMCATS as the clock expired. The AMCATS would end up losing the game 89-87 ultimately ending their season.

BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:

  • Gabe Armstead finished the season with a an average of 16.2 PPG with over 30 minutes played per game.
  • Ray Carter Jr. averaged 15.6 PPG this season with just over 30 minutes played per game.
  • The AMCATS won their most games in a single season since the 2021-22 season.
  • After putting up 408 points this season, Ray Carter Jr. currently sits just 20 points away from 700 points in his career going into his senior season.
