Women's Basketball Fights Until The End In GNAC Quarterfinals Against Albertus Magnus

New Haven, CT - The Anna Maria College women's basketball team left everything on the court in the GNAC Quarterfinals on Tuesday night, battling against a tough Albertus Magnus squad. Despite a relentless effort and several strong individual performances, the AmCats fell 82-62, bringing an end to their playoff run. Though the final score tells one story, the game itself was a testament to the fight, resilience, and determination of this Anna Maria squad.

From the opening tip, the AmCats showed they were ready for the challenge. Marinique Reddin set the tone with her dominance on the boards, leading Anna Maria's defensive effort as they worked to slow down their opponent's offense. Despite trailing 18-10 after the first quarter, the team remained poised and confident.

In the second quarter, Anna Maria found its rhythm. They tightened up defensively and moved the ball effectively on offense, outscoring Albertus Magnus 19-13 in the period. Madison Paulhus and Arianna Gonzalez knocked down key shots, while Reddin continued to own the paint, securing second-chance points. By halftime, the AmCats had cut the lead to just 31-29, proving they could go toe-to-toe with one of the top teams in the GNAC.

Coming out of the break, Anna Maria looked to maintain momentum, but the third quarter proved to be the game's turning point. Their opponent capitalized on turnovers and found success from beyond the arc, using a 28-point quarter to pull away. Despite the deficit, the AmCats never backed down. Reddin continued to battle inside, Gonzalez remained a deep threat, and Paulhus fought to keep the offense flowing.

Even in the fourth quarter, Anna Maria refused to quit. The team played with heart, pushing the pace and creating offensive opportunities. They put up 22 points in the final period, showing their resilience and determination to compete until the very last possession. The game may not have gone their way, but the fight they displayed on the court was undeniable.
