WOMEN'S BASKETBALL DOMINATES DEAN COLLEGE IN ROAD VICTORY
FRANKLIN, MA – The Anna Maria College women's basketball team delivered a commanding performance on the road against Dean College, securing a dominant 87-54 victory on Tuesday night. After a tightly contested first quarter, the AMCATS found their rhythm and took control, using a balanced offensive attack and a defensive presence to pull away from the Bulldogs.
The game opened with a back-and-forth battle, as both teams traded points early. The AMCATS struck first with a three-pointer, matched immediately by the Bulldogs. Anna Maria continued to find its rhythm beyond the arc and capitalized on a fast break at the five-minute mark to extend their early lead. Dean responded with strong inside play and free throws to keep pace, and by the end of the quarter, the Bulldogs held a narrow 13-12 lead over the AMCATS.
Anna Maria wasted no time turning the tide in the second quarter. A flurry of three-pointers and a strong presence in transition allowed the AMCATS to take control and extend their lead quickly. They outscored Dean significantly in the quarter, holding them to just six points in the whole quarter. Their ability to force turnovers and convert on fast breaks kept the Bulldogs off balance, while their sharp shooting from beyond the arc widened the gap. By halftime, Anna Maria had built a commanding 47-18 lead, leaving Dean struggling to find answers.
The AMCATS carried that same energy into the third quarter, maintaining their dominance on both ends of the floor. A well-balanced offensive attack saw multiple players contribute, with efficient scoring from inside and beyond the arc. The Bulldogs attempted to rally with a few strong possessions, but Anna Maria's defense continued to smother any potential momentum. The AMCATS added another scoring surge late in the quarter, further stretching their lead to 69-29 heading into the final period.
In the closing quarter, Anna Maria continued to dictate the pace, showcasing their depth and control. Despite a few late baskets from Dean, the AMCATS stayed composed, making key defensive stops and capitalizing on second-chance opportunities. Their ability to close out the game strong left no doubt, as they cruised to an 87-54 victory.
