WOMEN'S BASKETBALL STRIKES PAST LASERS

PAXTON, MA- On the Anna Maria College women's basketball team hosted the Lasers of Lasell University. The AMCATS won the game 65 to 55. 

The first quarter the AMCATS and the Lasers would battle it out, going basket for basket. Both teams would bring the offensive momentum putting up points on the scoreboard, the AMCATS would go point for point in the first quarter against the Lasers. The AMCATS would capitalize on the Lasers turnovers and turn them into offensive momentum and points on the score board. It would be Lasers though that would continue to battle until the first quarter would run out to pull back within two points against the AMCATS. It would be the AMCATS leading the Lasers 20 to 18 at the end of the first quarter. 

The AMCATS would need to come out strong offensively as they did in the first quarter and lock down on the defensive side of the ball to take the lead against the Lasers. It would be the AMCATS to have offensive momentum and points in the game, but it would be the Lasers to continue to battle and stay with the AMCATS putting points on the board. With both teams going point for point in the second quarter the score would stay evenly matched. It would be both teams to capitalize on rebounds and turnovers to secure points on the score board. The Lasers would secure three pointers on the board, but it would be the AMCATS to battle back and put up three pointers on the scoreboard to match the Lasers. As the clock would wind down with about three minutes left in the second the score would be tied at 30 to 30. The AMCATS would look for their offensive momentum and strong defensive play to keep the Lasers off the board and break the tie before heading to half time. It would be the Lasers to strike first with a two-point shot, to break the tie with about less than two minutes to go up by two points on the AMCATS. The AMCATS would find themselves finding turnovers and steals but could not put-up points on the Lasers. It would be the Lasers to strike one more time with a two-point shot before the clock would run out at the end of the second quarter. The AMCATS would be headed to the locker room down to the Lasers 34 to 30 at the end of the second. 

The AMCATS would look to regroup as a team and come out strong in the third quarter, as they would be battling back against the Lasers. The AMCATS would totally come out dominating the Lasers in the third quarter putting up 18 points in the third quarter on the scoreboard. The AMCATS would not only dominate the Lasers in the third quarter on the scoreboard but would also silence them on the defensive side of the ball limiting the Lasers to 8 points. The AMCATS would look to take this momentum and offensive pressure into the fourth quarter, as the AMCATS would now be leading the Lasers 48 to 42. 

The AMCATS with the lead would look to hold off the Lasers, in the fourth quarter and bring the offensive momentum. The AMCATS would come out strong and capitalize on rebounds to start the quarter strong putting up 11 points and locking it down on defense limiting the Lasers to only 4 points in the beginning of the quarter. As the quarter would continuing to wind down the AMCATS would have to battle on defense, as they would have opportunities offensively and could not add to their lead. It would be with about 3 minutes left that the Lasers would continue to add to their points in the fourth putting up 7 points. Despite the Lasers getting on the board the AMCATS would continue to battle and add to their lead over the Lasers. As the clock would hit the two-minute mark the AMCATS would take control of the fourth quarter scoring multiple points in a row on the Lasers. Despite the clock continuing to run down despite the Lasers continuing to battle against the AMCATS, the AMCATS would silence the Lasers as they would continue to use their offensive momentum and put-up points on the scoreboard for the AMCATS. The AMCATS would battle strong against the Lasers, dominating the third quarter and putting up points on the board in the fourth quarter outscoring them 17 to 13 in which would give the AMCATS the win against the Lasers 65 to 55.

The AMCATS will be back in action on Wednesday January 29, 2025, where they will travel to Franklin, MA to take on the Bulldogs of Dean College. Opening Tip-off is set for 5:00pm.
