WOMEN'S BASKETBALL FALLS TO RAIDERS IN GAME TWO AT THE DAYTONA, FL BEACH SHOOTOUT
DAYTONA, FL - On, Saturday December 21st the Anna Maria College women's basketball team traveled to Daytona, FL to take on the Raiders of Mount Union University for game two of the Daytona Beach Shootout. The AMCATS lost the game 62 to 51.
The AMCATS would battle with the Raiders going point for point in the first quarter. But it would be the Raiders that would break away from the AMCATS towards the end of the first as they would put up 17 points and limit the AMCATS with just 10 points and take the early lead over the AMCATS. The AMCATS would be trailing the Raiders by 7 points at the end of the first quarter. Arianna Gonzalez got things started for the AMCATS offense, scoring 4 out of the 10 points in the first quarter.
Things would go exactly how the AMCATS would want them to in the second quarter. It would be the AMCATS to put up 19 points in the second quarter and totally dominate play against the Raiders. The AMCATS offense would not only be strong, as would their defensive play in the second limiting the Raiders to just 6 points. The dominating second quarter for the AMCATS, would prove to be enough to take the lead by 3 points heading into halftime against Raiders.
After the intermission, the AMCATS would look to extend their lead against the Raiders and take complete control. It would be the Raiders that would stick around against the AMCATS and continue to put on the pressure and offense against the AMCATS. The AMCATS would put up 14 points against the Raiders in the third, but it would be the Raiders to outscore the AMCATS in the third quarter putting up 20 points. The third quarter would end in a deadlocked tie with each team having 43 points to head into the fourth quarter.
The fourth quarter would not go in the AMCATS favor as the Raiders would completely dominate the AMCATS in the fourth. The Raiders would silence the AMCATS scoring 19 points and shutting down their offense limiting the AMCATS to just 8 points in the fourth quarter. Despite the effort from the AMCATS against the Raiders it would be Raiders to beat the AMCATS in the Daytona Shootout with a score of 62 to 51.

The AMCATS will be back in action after break on Saturday January 4th, 2025, where they will host the Pilgrims of New England College. Opening tip-off is set for 2:00pm.
