Volleyball Drops Season Opener To Hawks

Hartford, CT: On Saturday, August 31,2024 the Anna Maria College Women's Volleyball team opened their season with a tri-match in Hartford CT, against the Hartford College Hawks. The AMCATS were swept in the match 3-0. 

A freshman Rilie Mendoza from Newark, NJ led the team with nine digs in the match. It was then Gia Hall with eight digs and Annie Taylor with five digs to end the match. 

It would be Jana Hunt from Shubenacdie, NS that would post eight kills in the match while also tying the team two blocks in the match. It would then be Gia Hall that would get the second block on the day for the AMCATS. 

A freshman from Landenberg, PA Gia Hall would lead the team with assists in the match with fifteen, and it would then be Gia Hall with eight and close behind Annie Taylor with five assists in the match. 

UP NEXT: 

Anna Maria will be back in action on Monday, September 2nd where they will travel to Bridgewater, MA. The AMCATS will look to face the Bears of Bridgewater State. Match is set to start at 12:00 PM.
