Women's Volleyball Drops Two In First Tri-Match Of The Season

BOURNE, MA - On Saturday, September 7th the Anna Maria College women's volleyball team traveled to Bourne, MA for a non-conference trig-match against the Mitchell College Mariners and the Mass. Maritime Buccaneers. The AMCATS lost both matches.

The AMCATS opened up the day against the Mitchell College Mariners. Losing the first set 25-10, the AMCATS didn't give up as they battled through set number two with a score of 25-17. As the match progressed, the AMCATS performed better and better. Despite losing the third set, the AMCATS came within points of victory only losing 25-22 to the Mariners. Three AMCATS came out of the first match with double digit digs, Annie Taylor led the charge with 20 digs to start the day.

The second match of the day would be a dog fight for the AMCATS. The first set of would prove to be the AMCATS best set of the day after pulling out a 26-24 victory over the Buccaneers. Despite the momentum being in favor of the AMCATS, the Buccaneers would manage to tie the match up with a heart breaking 25-16 set win. Undeterred, the AMCATS kept fighting but unfortunately came up short in the third and fourth sets as the Buccaneers secured a 3-1 victory over the AMCATS.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:

• The AMCATS won their first set of the season with a 26-24 win against the Buccaneers.
• Annie Taylor currently leads the AMCATS in Digs with 82 so far this season. 42 of which came agains the Buccaneers.

COMING UP:

The AMCATS will be back in action on Thursday, September 12th where they will host the Lesley College Lynx for their Home Opener. First set starts at 7:00pm in the Fuller Center.
