Men's Soccer Falls Short Against Lasers

NEWTON, MA - On Saturday, October 19th the Anna Maria College men's soccer team traveled to Newton, MA to take on the Lasell University Lasers for a Great Northeast Athletic College matchup. The AMCATS lost the game 3-2.

The first half of the game only saw one goal as the Lasers took an early lead over the AMCATS just ten minutes into the first half. After the Intermission, the AMCATS found the equalizer as Rubelsi Moran buried the game tying goal off a pass from Ciaran Connolly Bailey. With almost fifteen minutes left to play, the Lasers regained the lead with a goal from Dillon Winkelmann. Just ten minutes later Mpumelelo Maphumulo scored his second goal of the day for the Lasers third goal of the game. With the clock ticking down, the AMCATS managed to squeeze in one last goal as Kyle Brocker scored with just two minutes left to play. Brockers goal wouldn't be enough to draw the tie as the game ends with a score of 3-2 in favor of the Lasers.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:

• Rubelsi Moran scored his 13th goal of the season for his 28th point marking a career high for points in a season.
• Valter Santiago hasn't allowed more than two goals in a game since October 24th of last year.

COMING UP:

The AMCATS are back in action on Wednesday, October 23rd where they will travel to Nashua, NH to take on the Rivier University Raiders for a Great Northeast Athletic Conference matchup. Opening kickoff is set for 7:00pm.
