Men's Soccer Draws With Pride 2-2 On Senior Night

PAXTON, MA - On Wednesday, October 16th the Anna Maria College men's soccer team hosted the Regis College Pride for a Great Northeast Athletic Conference matchup. The AMCATS tied the game 2-2.

The AMCATS were the first to strike in their senior night matchup against the Pride. Rubelsi Moran buried his 12th goal of the season with just under ten minutes left to play in the first half. It looked as though the AMCATS were going to end the first half with a 1-0 lead before the Pride managed to score a buzzer beater just as the clock hit zero forcing a 1-1 tie as the game entered the second half.

It wasn't until late in the second half that the game would see its next goal as the Pride capitalized on a penalty kick nearly thirty minutes into the half. As the clock ticked, the AMCATS fought desperately for the equalizing goal. With less than four minutes to play, Kyle Brocker would take a corner kick that was headed down by Valter Santiago and kicked in by Babtiste Petitjean to tie the game up in dramatic fashion. With just minutes left on the clock, both teams scrambled to try and take the upper hand, however the game would close with a final score of 2-2.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:

• Babtiste Petijean would record his first career goal against the Pride.
• Rubelsi Morans goal against the Pride would tie his career record for points in a season with 26. (2021-22)
• Kyle Brocker currently ranks second in points for the AMCATS with 9 so far this season (4 G; 1 A).

COMING UP:

Men's soccer will be back in action on Saturday, October 19th where they will head to Newton, MA to take on the Lasell University Lasers for a Great Northeast Athletic Conference matchup. Opening kickoff is set for 3:30pm.
