Bio

Xavier Powell was named offensive graduate assistant coach at the start of the 2025 season. The 2025 season marks his first year on the Anna Maria College coaching staff, and his second as an offensive coach. He also coached the quarterback position at Nichols College and led two separate quarterbacks to throw over 400 yards, both earning CNE Athlete of the Week. 

Before transferring to Anna Maria for his graduate studies, Powell played quarterback at Nichols College (2020-2024). He appeared in all 10 games of the 2023 season under center, throwing for 2,770 yards and 26 touchdowns, rushing 381 yards and 6 touchdowns on the ground. Powell currently holds the Nichols Program record for highest completion record/season (65%). Prior to his senior season, in 2022, Powell led Nichols Football to the highest points in a game (70) against Dean College, ending the season with 6 touchdowns and a season best of 483 passing yards against Curry College, which earned him CC Athlete of the Week. 

Powell is from Watertown, CT, where he attended Watertown High School. At Watertown, Powell was a two-sport athlete who received First Team All-NVL in football and placed sixth in the state open for wrestling. Powell was a captain in every sport he played at Watertown High School.

Coach Powell graduated from Nichols College with a psychology degree in 2024.
