Lancers Strike Down Men's Hockey 3-1

WORCESTER, MA - On Saturday, December 7th the Anna Maria College men's ice hockey team traveled across town to take on the Worcester State University Lancers for a MASCAC matchup. The AMCATS lost the game 3-1.

The Lancers were the first to strike after an AMCATS penalty led to a power play goal just over six minutes into the first period. Almost six minutes later the AMCATS returned the favor with a power play goal from Pearce Baker off a pass from Brandon Della Paolera. The AMCATS would stay deadlocked with the Lancers for the remainder of the first period.

Tied up at one goal a piece, the Lancers regained the lead with under two minutes left to play in the second period off a goal from Andrea Grongstad. Unable to tie things up in the third period, the Lancers tacked on an insurance goal with five minutes left to play in regulation. The AMCATS would pull their goalie in a last ditch effort to scrape together a comeback however the Lancers goaltender would hold the AMCATS at just one goal. The game ended with the Lancers handing the AMCATS their first conference loss of the season.
