AMCATS Top Blue Jays, 6-3
Paxton, Mass. – Anna Maria upended St. Joseph's University 6-3 in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) women's tennis action today at the Paxton Sports Center.
The teams split in singles play, 3-3, but the AMCATS (2-5, 2-1 GNAC) swept the Blue Jays (1-8, 0-4 GNAC) by a 3-0 count in doubles completion.
Anna Maria's Victoria Minotti (Shelton, Conn.) and Katelyn Edelson (Berlin, Conn.) earned victories in the first and fourth singles respectively, and teamed for an 8-2 doubles victory over Meghan Toth and Lisa Wawrzynowski.
Nicole Goudreau (Harrisvielle, RI) also earned two points for Anna Maria, beating April Loteczka 6-1, 6-0 and teaming with Emily Williamson (Spencer, Mass.) for a 8-0 win over Amanda Willhoft and Lindsay Tracy.
Juniors Kelly Blake (Southbridge, Mass.) and Casey Harrington (Uxbridge, Mass.) teamed for the third doubles win with a 8-8, 7-2 tiebreaker victory over Mallory Briggs and Serena Sundara.
Anna Maria returns to action on Friday October 5th when they host GNAC opponents Mount Ida Mustangs at 3:00 pm.
